Svalegangens Dukketeater: Comedy in Florence

Poul Ørums novel “Comedy in Florence” is dramatized by Per Brink Abrahamsen while Queen Margrethe has made the decorations in guache.
The show is a tale of fate and impossible revenge set in the Middle Ages. Ansel the painter comes to Florence to settle old scores. With him are an old hermit, a foundling baby and an unwelcome guest. The abed of the monastery and the widow Donna Chiara each have secrets but all is disclosed one late night as the plague breaks out in the city.
The story is based on Boccaccio’s ‘Decameron’ and Dante’s ‘The Devine Comedy’. Several well-known actors including Asger Bonfils and Ole Jakobsen have taped the dialogue and Svalegangen’s Puppet Theatre orchestra Undertow has composed the new music which completes the tone of the Middle Ages.

Idea and directing: PerBrink Abrahamsen. Scenographer: Queen Margrethe. Music: Undertow.
