Backstage Talk: Joachim Torbahn og Tristan Vogt, Thalias Kompagnons

It is not normal for acting glove puppets to be accompanied by eight classical musicians with their instruments live on stage! It is quite a challenge in an opera to have only one countertenor singing at the pitch of all voices of its protagonists! What is the benefit of leaving the traditional ‘caste let’ for some kind of “horizontal” puppetry, performed in a peculiar show cabinet, which is placed in the middle of the stage – and then projecting the scene onto a giant screen? …

There are many things which make this version of Mozart’s “ Magic Flute” by Joachim Torbahn and Tristan Vogt very amusing, brilliant and remarkable. In this Back Stage Talk, you have an unique opportunity to get right into the “engine” of the show. Joachim Torbahn and Tristan Vogt have created a luscious treat, never seen before in a puppet performance. Their use of cameras throughout the show offers many stunning perspectives and exciting theatrical possibilities. Come and experience this technique used in a very creative way.
