MOONDOG – THE VIKING OF 5TH AVENUE

MoondogIt is a great pleasure to be able to present Festival of Wonders opening show 2017. Moondog is a theater concert with puppets, based on the music that Louis Thomas Hardin – better known as Moondog – composed during his career (1916-1999).

Louis Thomas Hardin was born in the United States. He became blind at age 16 in an accident. Never-theless, he managed to get a career as a composer, poet, performing musician and he invented sev-eral very special percussion instruments. He stayed every day in New York on 5th Street with his dog. Often in a Viking costume. He was absorbed by Nordic mythology, but also of classical music and of the jazz. He had a close relationships – and collaborated with – different people like David Bowie, Philip Glass, Charlie Parker and others. In the performance participate 14 musicians and many puppet players and technicians on and behind stage. The presentation in Silkeborg is a collaboration between Schauspielhaus in Bochum, director of the performance Annette Dabs and Festival of Wonder.
